Captain Helen James presenting Stephen Howes with the runner-up award for Block B
The Orange City Autumn Croquet Carnival was held from the 18th - 22nd April. 12 Clubs were represented . We welcomed players visiting Orange for the first time, also those who had visited before.
The weather was kind, Orange always looks its best in Autumn. The competition was played in four round robin blocks of handicap singles. Sylvia Shipp was Tournament Referee and was ably assisted by several visiting players. Our dear friend and honorary Member Mary Fernance also refereed each day.
The players and referees were well looked after by a number of members, catering for the duration of the Carnival, lead by our Vice President Mary Parish.
On the social side we began the Carnival with Welcome drinks and nibbles on the evening prior to the Carnival after practise and registration. A very happy Carnival Dinner was held on Monday 20th April then we concluded with the Presentation after play on Wednesday.
The contest was keenly contested with blocks B,C and D runners up decided on net scores. There were five handicap changes both up and down. In all a successful and very happy week.
The results were:
Block A:
Winner: Leon O’Mally Dubbo
Runner Up: Larry Bryant Port Macquarie
