Happy doubles winners, Margaret Leese from Urunga and Robyn Wallace from Maitland
The second Taree-on-Manning Golf Croquet Carnival concluded on Friday with a barbecue and Trophy Presentation. This followed three days of competition in which one hundred and five games were played. Some entrants were playing their first carnival, some were playing their first handicap games (with extra turns), some were playing for the first time against players from another club, and many had their first experience of refereeing a game. There were some very lively discussions during the week on some of the finer points of the Rules of Golf Croquet.
Players travelled from Coolangatta, Urunga, Port Macquarie, Maitland, Toronto, Scone, Miller Park, Sydney, Wollongong and Jamberoo to compete for trophies generously donated by Country Energy.
Doubles winners are:
Block A - Judy Soper (Maitland) and Margaret Pedemont (Toronto)
Block B - Robyn Wallace (Maitland) and Margaret Leese (Urunga)
Block C - Des Schodel and Beryl Schodel (Coolangatta)
In the Singles:
Block A - winner Judy Soper (Maitland), runner up Lo Hearne (Scone)
Block B - winner Peter Smith (Maitland), runner up Tony Earle (Port Macquarie)
Block C - winner Margaret Pedemont (Toronto), runner up Bridget Earle (Port Macquarie)
Block D - winner Roger Evans (Jamberoo), runner up Margaret Leese (Urunga)
Block E - winner Robert Leese (Urunga), runner up Carol Hayes (Wollongong)
